At this point in the Harold the Horrible story, the consultants are facing a very critical stage. They are working with a client that shows little to no concern for his staff and a staff that is very likely unhappy with their leader.
The consultants returned a week later to interview Harold and his staff. As you read this, keep in mind that the consultants expected to find two very different and opposing viewpoints.
Here are the main highlights from the day of interviewing:
Harold’s Interview
“My people do not put in a full days work and wont work required overtime!”
“They refuse to make client visits!”
“A complete change of staff would solve all of my problems.”
“It is a waste of your time to ask about my leadership style.”
Interview with Harold’s Staff
“He is rude and hateful.”
“He thinks he is God on Earth.”
“He has no consideration for anyone on his staff.”
After the interviews, the consultants stopped by Harold’s office and he asked, “What did my staff say about me?” We put off replying and told him that we would summarize the information and feed it back to him and his staff at a near future date. He grumbled and said “I want to see it first before my staff.” We agreed and departed.
Stay tuned–things get really wild.
